I have a voice!

Taking the leap.
At what point do we realize we have our own unique voice?
There is this memorable scene in the movie “The King’s speech”. As Colin Firth, the actor who plays King George VI confronts Lionel, his speech therapist (played by actor Geoffrey Rush), about his lack of credentials, he comes to realize the depth of his own potential and he blurts out “I have a voice”. Lionel's response is “yes, you do.”
Despite being prodded by friends and family members for years, I have always been reluctant to share my photographic work to a wider audience. There is always this nagging concern my work is not good enough despite hearing compliments from other people.
My good friend and mentor Bruce Percy gave some sage advice about showing our work during his recent online “portfolio development” class. He urged us to take the leap even when we have doubts. There is never the perfect moment as he says. You have to cultivate that confidence by taking that first step, knowing you have something to offer.
Here I am taking his advice to heart, starting my own web site. I hope by showing my work, I can share my love and enthusiasm for photography. I am forever grateful for this hobby of mine. While it feels gratifying during the process of making images, it is the people I meet, the places I visit and all of the wonder experiences that make the effort all the more enjoyable and rewarding.
Photography has given me this feeling of richness in life that cannot be described in words.
Thank you to all who have been cheering me on over the years. I hope you enjoy looking at what I have to offer.
And this is how it begins…
Ming, Yes, you do have a voice, and you're singing through your photography, through your eyes, and your heart. Beautiful colors and texture. Two Thumbs up.
